Great Blue Heron Bringing Nesting Material.

This image was taken at the Venice Rockery in Venice, Florida. This sanctuary is located in a very urban park area. There is a small lake with an island in it. This island is the Venice Rockery. The birds are about 50 yards from the shore. The shore is covered with visitors and plenty of photographers. The Heron was caught in motion as he was landing to bring his mate a twig to make the nest. This image was taken in early 2004..
