Sand Hill Cranes
in an Icy Pond at the Bosque Del Apache, New Mexico

This image was taken in December of 2003. The temperature was about 15 degrees. This crane was alone in the bushes in the pond. In the background there are additional birds, that are out of focus. I like them there because it supports the main bird in the image. I included the shadows of the birds because I think it makes for a stronger picture.
