Turkey
Vultures near Nicasio,California.
A group of turkey vultures had settled onto the fence of
a corral near the road from Nicasio. Nicasio is only a few
miles from where I live and I frequently go there to shoot.
Several trees were located in front of the corral. The birds
were spreading their wings to dry them in the early morning
sun. It took me about 20 minutes to get in position to take
this picture. I moved slowly because I didn’t want
them to take flight. The morning was a bit foggy as one
can tell from the background. These birds are quite common
in this area but it is unusual for them to be so close to
a road. It was a lucky day for shooting (with a camera that
is) these big birds. |
