Spreading Wings of a Spoonbill

This image was taken with a long telephoto lens (500), one early morning at the Ding Darling reserve in early 2004. I love the color of these beautiful birds. The wings are spread, showing the bird in motion. The very dark water in the background really helps isolate the bird. It’s fortunate that the two birds don’t merge into each other
